Our school closure procedures are reviewed periodically to ensure fast and effective communication with parents/guardians of elementary and secondary students of the Central Québec School Board in the event of closures due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
OPEN OR CLOSED?
THE ONLY OFFICIAL SOURCE of information is the Establishment Closures page of our website.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS, YOU HAVE A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS?
Contact the school secretary's office to update your email address.

Students of the CQSB who live in outlying areas are transported by the school transportation services of the local Francophone School Service Centres (FSSC). When these FSSCs determine that road conditions are unsafe for the students and decide to close their schools, the CQSB also closes its schools in those affected areas.
Daycare
If establishments close due to inclement weather, Day Care Services are closed as well.
Communications

You will receive a school closure email from CQSBinfo@cqsb.qc.ca to the email address you provided at the school. Note that the speed at which the email is received may vary depending on your local internet network. |
INCLEMENT WEATHER - THE FINAL DECISION BELONGS TO THE PARENTS /GUARDIANS
Sometimes, the decision to close our schools is straightforward. However, in other cases, it’s not as clear-cut. In such situations, we rely on weather forecasts provided by meteorological experts. If we decide to keep our schools open, it’s because the FSSCs believe student transportation can be carried out safely.
That said, the final decision always rests with parents or guardians, as we cannot assess road conditions across our entire territory. No student should be penalized for staying home under such circumstances.
An unexpected incident may occur, requiring a school to close during the day (e.g., gas leak, power outage, water damage, etc.). Such closures involve significant logistics, including contacting school bus carriers and the parents/guardians of elementary students before allowing students to leave the building.
If such an incident occurs you will be informed:
- According to the establishment’s closure procedure already in place
- Through the School Board’s Website on the "Establishement Closures" page
- By email from CQSBinfo@cqsb.qc.ca to the address provided at the school
In closing
Our School Board understand its responsibilities in the areas of safety and education and rest assured that our decisions are always made in the best interest of our students and our staff.
