Principal’s message Content

Dear Parents and Students,

At Three Rivers Academy, we aspire to be the best place for students to learn:

Tenacity

The importance of tenacious effort in our day-to-day acts is paramount to being successful in life. Our dedicated teaching and support staff work diligently to offer our students a stimulating, safe learning environment. Our teachers innovate, constantly finding new ways to engage their students. Languages are an essential skill and students can choose between French Mother Tongue, French Second Language Enriched, or the Core French programs. We have excellent success rates in English Language Arts and we can honestly say that when our students graduate, they are bilingual. We believe that we provide a first-class teaching and learning environment in which our students succeed and leave us with the tenacity to move forward in life.

Respect

At TRA we believe that respect is fundamental to living in a learning community together. We see ourselves as a family environment in which as a smaller school we try to be very close to the needs of our community. We have a strong sports tradition. Year after year, we compete with the best in the region in Basketball, Volleyball, Flag Football, and Track and Field. What makes the difference is that our coaches and our teachers not only teach skills but sportsmanship. We encourage all students to come out and play for the Phoenix’s.

Achievement

At TRA we strive to ensure that students leave the school with a diploma that provides them with a chance to pursue their studies at the next level. We aim to help students achieve their potential and have a good track record of seeing students succeed in many different ways.

We help students develop their creativity. Being creative and taking risks leads to self-confidence. Whether it’s through drama, music, or the visual arts, students have the opportunity to create original work, perform on stage, speak in front of their peers, or display their work.

Experiences they will remember for a lifetime. It is important for our students to be active members of their community. We want them to learn about who they are and develop their leadership skills. They can get involved in numerous clubs, volunteer for community events and activities, and participate in leadership camps.

We also provide the opportunity for our students to connect with the world with up-to-date technology in the classroom and in the hands of the students. Laptops are made available to all students and we have implemented a 1:1 laptop initiative across the school.

Students learn through experience and at TRA we provide students at every grade level opportunities to travel and discover the world we live in. In the past 3 years, students have been on trips to B.C., Québec, Washington, Philadelphia, Toronto, Spain and Portugal. As you can see, Three Rivers High School has a lot to offer. So we encourage parents, students, staff, and community members to continue to support our students and the TRA community. We all benefit from our collective efforts at providing a stimulating, safe, dynamic learning environment.

Thank you,

Jonathan Percival, Principal of Three Rivers Academy
