Dollard-des-Ormeaux School Inaugurates its New Building Extension!

Québec City, Thursday, October 19, 2017 - The members of the Central Québec School Board’s (CQSB) Council of Commissioners (Council), the members of the Administrative Council (AC) and the Principal of Dollard-des-Ormeaux (DDO), Mr. Stéphane Lagacé, were clearly very proud to participate in the Ribbon-cutting Ceremony for the official inauguration of the school’s new extension.  They were accompanied by several invited guests and members of the DDO’s personnel.  In addition, the students were omnipresent, attentive and the atmosphere was filled with pride!! 

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mr. Stephen Burke, Chair of the Council of Commissioners (Council), Mr. Jean Robert, Vice-Chair of the Council, Commissioners Mr. Cameron Lavallee, Ms. Esther Paradis, Ms. Isabel Béland, Parent-Commissioner, Mr. Michel Martin represented Mr. Éric Caire, MNA for La Peltrie, Mr. Brent Montgomery, Mayor of St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, Mr. Guillaume Labbé, Chairman of the DDO Governing Board (GB), as well as other GB members. Mr. Stephen Pigeon, Director General, Ms. Pierrette Laliberté, Assistant-Director General and Director of Human Resources along with other members were pleased to represent the CQSB, Mrs. Lucie Gingras, Vice-principal, along with representatives of the firms Pierre Blouin, Les Constructions, BGLA Architecture and LGT were also present. 

Mr. Stéphane Lagacé, Principal, of DDO offered an overview of the school's history.

Twelve classrooms, a gymnasium for elementary students, an upgrade to the existing gymnasium, an inner courtyard and a multifunctional room were added. This extension allows the school to welcome 600+ elementary and secondary students without the use of portable classrooms.

The event was held in the beautiful courtyard.  Mr. Burke and Mr. Lagacé, told the students that a lot of effort was put into making sure that their school would help them learn in an extraordinary environment!
