The Last Piece of the Puzzle That Allows the Construction
of a 21st Century High School in Ste-Foy

Québec, Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021 – The Central Québec School Board (CQSB) was recently informed that the Minister of National Defence, the honourable Harjit Singh Sajjan, has agreed to cede a portion of the National Defence land adjacent to St. Vincent School on Wolfe Street, to the Government of Québec, for the benefit of our school board. This piece of land is the final piece of the puzzle which will allow us to move forward in building a 21st century high school in Ste-Foy to replace the ageing buildings of Quebec High School and St. Patrick’s High School as announced in June 2018 by the Government of Québec.

This project was originally initiated by the governing boards of both schools and supported by a group of community members and alumni from both Quebec High School and St. Patrick’s High School.

The building of a new elementary school on the South shore of Quebec City will be going forward in the next few months. Once our new elementary school opens in September 2023, we will be able to break ground on Wolfe Street for the building of our new high school which will first greet its students in September of 2025.

“I would like to point-out the unwavering support that this project has received from Minister Jean-Yves Duclos, and Federal MP for Louis-Hébert, Mr. Joel Lightbound as well as their teams throughout this long process. Needless to say, this piece of land was essential for this project to move forward and now, it’s becoming a reality.

I would also like to thank Mrs. Joëlle Boutin, MNA for Jean Talon, and Mr. Jean-François Roberge, Minister of Education, as well as all the civil servants who have contributed to this project so far. It is a project which bares much importance for our region’s English-speaking community.

In the name of our students and staff, please accept our heartfelt gratitude.”
