Central Québec School Board Improves Energy Efficiency in 19 Facilities
Québec, February 5th, 2018 – The members of the Council of Commissioners of the Central Québec School Board (CQSB) recently announced the completion of its 18-month-long energy efficiency project. The wide-reaching initiative included nineteen (19) facilities situated in various areas of the province, ranging from the Mauricie administrative region to Northern Québec, including the National Capital and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. “The Council of Commissioners has invested more than $6 million in this extensive energy saving project and have benefited from $1.2 million in grants from the Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sports (MELS), Hydro Québec and Énergir, formerly known as Gaz Métro,” mentions Mr. Stephen Burke, Chairman of the CQSB’s Council of Commissioners.
St. Vincent School in the Téléjournal Radio-Canada this evening!
St. Vincent School, situated at 995, avenue Wolfe in Québec City, participated in a free workshop offered by the Palais Montcalm – Maison de la musique within the program Connaissez-vous la musique classique? An animator came to the school to offer 50-minute workshops in order to support the development and education of music to our young students. Grade 5 and 6 students participated in this workshop on October 23rd, October 26th and November 2nd. Mr. Cédric Ferland’s Grade 6 class was proud to welcome Radio-Canada to film the event in their classroom. Don’t miss it tonight, around 6:40 p.m.! The creation of this workshop from the Palais Montcalm was made possible with the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
PRESS RELEASE: Dollard-des-Ormeaux School Inaugurates its New Building Extension!
Québec City, Thursday, October 19, 2017 - The members of the Central Québec School Board’s (CQSB) Council of Commissioners (Council), the members of the Administrative Council (AC) and the Principal of Dollard-des-Ormeaux (DDO), Mr. Stéphane Lagacé, were clearly very proud to participate in the Ribbon-cutting Ceremony for the official inauguration of the school’s new extension. They were accompanied by several invited guests and members of the DDO’s personnel. In addition, the students were omnipresent, attentive and the atmosphere was filled with pride!!
Every year students from Three Rivers Academy will be empowered to save lives
August 29th, 2017 the ACT Foundation, and its partners, is launching the High School CPR and AED program at Three Rivers Academy. Every year students will be empowered to save lives by learning how to use a defibrillator (AED) which has been added to the CPR program. Today was the Teacher Training Workshop at Three Rivers Academy. And, now that the teachers have become CPR and AED Instructors, they can train all their students.
A friendly competition of Flag Football took place on Thursday, June 1st at St. Vincent School. Three CQSB schools participated by sending teams comprised of Grades 4 to 6; Everest Elementary sent 2 teams, St. Vincent sent 1 and Ste-Foy Elementary also sent 1 team. This event was graciously organized by Mr. Gary Kenler, principal of Everest Elementary School, in collaboration with the RSEQ* program À l’école, moi j’bouge!. Be Active Québec was present with a healthy snack kiosk to refuel the students, and we received the support of the Ville de Québec who offered free of charge, the football field adjacent to the St. Vincent grounds.
On Monday, May 29th the CQSB Elementary Track and Field Meet took place for the 11th year. This annual event has taken place at various venues but thanks to the generosity of the Valcartier Community Centre, we’ve had the privilege of using their facilities for the last four years at NO cost. The organizers, coaches and students are extremely grateful for the kindness of Pamala Hogan and her team.
