Under the authority of the Human Resources Director, the Project Development Officer is responsible for developing recruitment strategies by optimizing existing tools in order to promote Jimmy Sandy Memorial School (JSMS) as an employer of choice, focusing on attracting qualified candidates, planning the workforce movement and retaining talents.

He or she carries out research and analysis duties to identify the best talent according to the School's needs, elaborates and develops a direct approach method to contact promising candidates, proposes solutions that are adapted to the evolving workforce challenges as well as the school board's needs, and ensures the school’s visibility both within and outside the province of Quebec.

Attributions caractéristiques

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Coordinator, and in collaboration with the JSMS Principal, the Project Development Officer:

  • Participates in the planning and assessment of recruitment projects in terms of determining the needs, costs, timeline as well as human and material resources required to accomplish them;
  • Develops a calendar of promotional and recruitment activities and ensures that it is kept up to date;
  • Provides recommendations on the latest trends related to best recruitment practices and innovates by suggesting new strategies and places to recruit;
  • Ensures on-site presence by establishing connections with the school principal and team so as to fully understand their recruitment challenges;
  • Develops a process for representing the school to various partners (schools, organizations, immigration, etc.), at the local, provincial, national and international levels;
  • Participates in the elaboration of various recruitment and promotional tools adapted to the targeted clientele;
  • Brings innovative ideas on attracting the best candidates by adding its own creative touch o displays, descriptions, materials, etc.;
  • Maintains and upkeeps a pool of motivated and interested candidates in various ;
  • Keeps up with the latest sourcing trends and makes recommendations on the newest ways to use these resources (social networks, apps, etc.);
  • Plans, organizes and participates in recruitment activities at the local, provincial, national and international levels; coordinates, when necessary, the work of the staff involved in recruitment events;
  • Represents the school with educational institutions and partner organizations;
  • Participates in the entire staffing process cycle for positions related to support staff, professionals and teachers;
  • Works closely with the professionals selected to participate in the recruitment process as well as with external partners (schools, organizations,  etc.);
  • Provides promotional and recruitment advice as well as ensures quality of service;
  • Ensures compliance of the entire recruitment process in accordance with legislation, standards, policies and best practices;
  • Prepares regular and detailed reports on the evolution of the performance of promotional and recruitment projects to assess the strategies put in place; and submits them to his immediate supervisor;
  • Ensures the liaison between the school and the Board Office on administrative matters (lodging, travel etc).

Qualifications requises

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty

Have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience;

Exceptionally and after evaluation of a candidate's qualifications, years of pertinent experience may be recognized by the school board as equivalent in the case of a level of schooling lower than the minimum required.

Good knowledge of social media;

Excellent organizational and communication skills;

Good proficiency in French and English, both orally and in writing;

Common sense;

Excellent interpersonal skills;

Knowledge of office automation (MS Office);

Hold a valid driver's license as well as access to a car.

Additional Information

Possibility of atypical schedule (evening and weekends)

Be available to travel within the province of Quebec and outside.
