JSMS’s students shine in provincial and national Science Fairs

In March, our school in Kawawachikamach, Jimmy Sandy Memorial (JSMS), had three student groups present at the Annual Québec Indigenous Science Fair promoted by Québec Aboriginal Science and Engineering Association. Two students were selected to represent the organization at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, held this year in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Aiden James Einish, secondary 3, presented the health benefits of consuming Labrador tea while Ashton Nikishan Andre-Gauthier, secondary 1, conducted an environmental analysis showing the impact of landfill practices on local soil and snow.

Aiden was awarded a scholarship to SHAD Canada as well as placing third place at this year’s Canada-Wide Science Fair.

Today Aiden was invited to represent the Québec Aboriginal Science and Engineering Association at this year’s International Science Fair to be held this September in Abu Dhabi!

Congratulations to Ashton Nikishan Andre-Gauthier and Aiden James Einish!
