CRAZY EIGHTS

For two to six players

Value of Cards
In this game both suit and denomination are taken into consideration. Cards have no special rank, but the Jack, 8, and 2 are treated differently.

First of all
Deal eight cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed in the middle, and the top card of the deck is turned up beside it. Players hold their cards in fan-shaped hands.

The object of the game
To be the first to get rid of all your cards.

Play
The first player must place on top of the turned-up card, a card of the same suit, or a card of the same denomination, or an 8. If she plays and 8, she can declare it any suit she chooses, that is, the "wild" card. Each player, in turn, must match the faced-up card as to suit or denomination, or play an 8. If she has no playable card to play, she draws cards from the pack until she gets one.

If a player plays a Jack, she may put another card on top of it (but, of course, it must be of the same suit, or denomination, or an 8.) If she tops it with another Jack, she plays again..

If a player plays a 2, all the other players must each pick up two cards from the face-down pack and add them to their hands.

When all the pack has been faced up, cards are shuffled and turned over again. The last played card is left face up to be played upon.
